The Future for the Local Council

About Myself,

Ashridge Barton has been the family home since 1884. I represent the 6th generation. The agricultural business is run conjunction with a self catering holiday enterprise.

Joy (nee Heal) and I married in 1977. Joy’s parents are from farming families originating in Buckland Brewer. Joy qualified as an Occupational Therapist and is working with the elderly within the community

We have 3 sons. Andrew (27) and Mark (22) have set up homes in Hampshire and Staffordshire respectively James (25) completed a Computer Science degree and has returned to the family home. He is now employed at North Devon College. He is our computer expert and his help in maintaining the electronic super highway of email and websites have been invaluable. He has maintained the farming roots, being Chairman of Buckland Brewer Young Farmers Club and recently winning the Tarka group senior member of the year competition.

I was in the first generation of Littleham children to attend Pynes and Westcroft due to the closure of Littleham school in 1959. Joy and our 3 boys also attended the same school.

Due to family bereavements I have always maintained a keen interest in organisations which offer practical help. I specialise in disability and carer issues as my mother lost much of her health due to multiple sclerosis.
